The Leo W. Jenkins Society

Pride, loyalty, and remarkable perseverance—all qualities Leo W. Jenkins drew upon while chancellor of East Carolina University and qualities he instilled in the university's students, alumni, faculty, and friends.

Just as Leo W. Jenkins honored East Carolina University with his ambitions and success, the Leo W. Jenkins Society honors philanthropic benefactors of the university. Contributors of bequests and other forms of planned gifts join his legacy by investing their spirit and the fruits of their labor in the excellence of East Carolina.

Society Eligibility and Membership

Membership in the Leo W. Jenkins Society is conferred upon all benefactors who have included East Carolina University in their estate planning by means of a bequest provision in their will or living trust.

Eligibility also applies to those benefactors who have named East Carolina University as the charitable beneficiary of a planned giving arrangement such as a charitable remainder trust; charitable gift annuity or deferred gift annuity; or a life estate arrangement. Donors who designate East Carolina University as the beneficiary of a life insurance policy or pension plan also qualify for membership.
Note: Depending on how you intend for your gift to be used, you need to designate it either to one or a combination of the following foundations that support ECU.
  • East Carolina University Foundation Inc.
  • East Carolina University Medical & Health Sciences Foundation Inc.
  • East Carolina University Educational Foundation Inc. (Pirate Club)
