Ways to Give
Bequest Language
Please consider the following bequest language for California State University Northridge Foundation when meeting with your attorney:
Specific bequest: You can establish a bequest of a particular dollar amount or asset by writing:
"I bequeath $______________ [or description of gift] to California State University Northridge Foundation to be used for its general purposes."
A residuary bequest: You can give all or part of the property remaining in your estate after your specific bequests are paid by stating:
"I bequeath all [or ________ percent] of the rest, residue and remainder of the property, which I may own or be entitled to at my death, to California State University, Northridge Foundation to be used for its general purposes."
Specific uses: You can designate your gift for a particular college, department or purpose (such as scholarships or research). In this case your bequest language might read:
"I bequeath $______________ to California State University Northridge Foundation to be used to support the College [or Department] of ____________" or "to support faculty and student research in _____________."
Endowments: You can also provide for a permanent endowment fund in your name (or honoring a loved one) to continue your legacy in perpetuity. Please contact us for details.
