Sample Bequest Language

Specific Bequests:
Allows a specific asset (stocks, real estate, bonds), an amount of money, or a percentage of the estate to be given.

I give to Swedish Medical Center Foundation ____% of my estate.

I give to Swedish Medical Center Foundation $____ or ____ property.

Residuary Bequest:
Residuary bequest leaves the remainder of estate to Swedish Medical Center Foundation once all outright bequests have been made.

All the residue or ____% of my estate, including real and personal property, I give to Swedish Medical Center Foundation.

Contingent Bequest:
Contingent bequest allows Swedish to receive a distribution from the estate if, and only if, one or more of the named beneficiaries does not survive.

I give to Swedish Medical Center Foundation $____ if, and only if, my primary beneficiary does not survive me.
