To Plan or to Procrastinate - A Note From Frank Stepp, PMP

There are certain tasks that I prefer to forget, such as trimming the hedges, cleaning the house and paying the bills. Perhaps you have other procrastination provokers. I have asked myself, Why do these tasks invoke such a sense of trepidation? After much analysis and thought I believe I have uncovered the answer: I would simply rather be doing something else. Not so scientific, I admit, but that answer explains why we avoid doing a lot of things.

One of the things we sometimes avoid is creating a sound, up-to-date estate plan, or at least getting a second opinion on our existing estate plan. We most likely avoid it because we would just rather be thinking about something else. After all, we don't need that will or estate plan until we're dead and we're certainly not planning on dying anytime soon, right?

I hear you! But what if I offered you something that would change your mind about estate planning? What if you had someone to answer all of your questions concerning estate planning, and what if it was entirely enjoyable and also FREE?

It may sound too good to be true, but thanks to McKee Medical Center Foundation you have that opportunity. Thompson & Associates is nationally recognized as a leader in estate planning techniques. I am onsite at McKee Medical Center each month for the sole purpose of providing estate planning information and it's all FREE.

If you would like to meet with me to review your planning needs, we can work together to create an estate plan that provides for your retirement income and transfers assets to your loved ones in a way that is tailored to fit their individual personalities and needs and avoids sending money to the government.

I will respect the confidential nature of our conversations. All of your personal information will be held in the strictest confidence and will not be shared with anyone without your direction. Even though the Foundation sponsors this program, they will never know anything concerning your estate plan or financial situation.

You will never be asked to make a donation to any organization. Since my services are paid for by the Foundation, I have nothing to sell—no insurance, no investments, NOTHING. We will take whatever time is needed to make sure your questions are answered and the expected outcomes are in accordance with your wishes. Your attorney, financial advisors and family are all welcome to sit in on our sessions.

When you have an estate plan that meets your expectations and objectives, Thompson & Associate's staff attorney will prepare a recommendation packet that will be sent to your local attorney for drafting. That way you have the best of our services and your local professionals.

That's it, plain and simple! So why not give me 20 minutes of your time to see if this service can be beneficial to you? What's the worst that could happen? If you decide the process is not for you, at least we have made friends and you can go on your way. But either way, you will have the peace of mind that comes with having a well-designed estate plan.

Contact Mary L. McCormack at the McKee Medical Center Foundation at (970) 635-4105 or mmccorma@uga.edu to set up an appointment with me during my next visit.
