Welcome
Welcome to our gift planning Web site. I am Jim Dawson, the Vice President for Gift Planning at the Rutgers University Foundation. I am pleased to share with you information about a variety of opportunities to help support Rutgers. Our donors have an impact on all facets of university life and this site will provide some substantive information on investing in the future. Through gift planning it is possible to reduce or eliminate federal and state taxes owed on the value of a gift. This is an attractive feature that can work in your favor when it comes to paying taxes on income, capital gains, gifts, and your estate assets. Tax benefits are available to individuals at all income levels.
The amount of material and the level of detail provided in this Web site may seem daunting. Please know that my staff and I are here to answer any and all of your questions. Every situation is different and requires a personalized approach. For our part, any feedback you would like to provide would be helpful as we attempt to manage the wealth of information available about philanthropic planning. Do let us know how useful you find all of this.
I hope you will take the time to "meet" some of our donors by clicking on Meet Our Donors. Likewise, please take a moment to view our gift planning team at Meet The Team. We are here to assist you and to discuss your goals and concerns on a private and confidential basis.
Sincerely yours,
Jim Dawson

Real Estate Donations: Benefit Yourself and Rutgers

Ask yourself the following: "Do I own a property, such as a vacation home, that isn't used very much? "Do I have a property that is a burden to manage?" "If I sell a property, will I owe significant taxes?" If you answered, "yes," to any of the questions above, you can achieve peace of mind, and come out ahead, by donating the property to Rutgers. Will New Tax Laws Affect My Estate Plan?
It's an extraordinarily uncertain time—tax wise, that is. This is the first year in decades that American tax law repealed the federal estate tax.
