With Your Help, Everything Is Possible
At SSM St. Mary’s Health Center, everything is possible. In 1872, when our founding Sisters came to St. Louis from Germany, the congregation of sisters believed that to be true. Everything is possible. In 1873, Mother Odilia borrowed $16,000 to open the first infirmary. When she met with the banker, he was worried about the ability to repay the loan. Mother Odilia responded, “St. Joseph will be our security. He has never let us down.” The banker was startled but moved by her faith and replied, “With such good backing for your financial stability, I would be foolish to refuse you.” He lent the money and demonstrated that everything was possible then and everything is possible today.
We continue the Sisters’ work with the hope that “everything is possible.” At SSM Health Care, and at SSM St. Mary's Health Center Foundation, we are incorporating a spirit of possibility in all that we do, and are transforming everything from our buildings to our care processes to provide patients with the best care and best results possible.
