Over the years, Susan Lucas had purchased 3 central Berkeley properties. Her love of “home,” its personal importance and meaning, carried over into her management of the rental units. She took pride in being “a housing provider” and pleasure in maintaining and improving the homes of others. Over the years, net rental income made it possible for her to retire.
Frances Stevenson had a zest for life that brought a smile to the faces of everyone she met. She loved to travel the world and enjoyed life to the fullest. Not long before her death in early 2007 at age 86, Fran was an avid bridge player and loved spending time at her garden club.
Habitat for Humanity East Bay has taken great strides toward eliminating poverty housing in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. Our mission is to create successful homeownership opportunities for families with limited incomes by building environmentally sustainable housing and revitalizing neighborhoods. Today more than 200 families now enjoy the stability that owning their own home affords.
