York Society
The York Society is a special group to recognize individuals who provide support for the university through planned gifts. Membership belongs to those who have made a deferred gift to UCSD through one or more of the following methods:
- Provision in their will or revocable trust.
- Life income gift (charitable gift annuity, pooled income fund, charitable remainder trust or charitable lead trust).
- Retirement plan beneficiary designation.
- Life insurance policy beneficiary designation.
- Life estate gift (remainder interest in real property).
What is Gift Planning
Gift Planning is finding ways to make charitable gifts now or after your lifetime while enjoying financial benefits for yourself.
Planned gifts are sometimes referred to as "stop-and-think" gifts because they require some planning and, often, help from your professional advisors. Unlike cash donations, they are typically made from assets in your estate rather than disposable income, and come to fruition upon your death.
