Robert L. and Billie Carole Bussmann
Robert L. and Billie Carole Bussmann retired from the Lincoln Public Schools after 35.5 and 36 years respectively. Billie spent her entire tenure with LPS teaching business education at Pound Junior High Middle School. Robert began his career at Prescott Elementary School where he served as a classroom teacher, team leader, and coordinator.

Alice L. Clark
Alice L. Clark led an adventurous life as a registered nurse, serving in six states. Her memories of a fulfilling career and life in nursing were featured in the 2002 College of Nursing Alumni Association issue of the Nurse Reporter.

Larry and Patti Horstman
My wife and I decided recently to provide a deferred gift to the Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools. Even though my wife grew up in a small town near Lincoln, I am a product of Lincoln Public Schools via Elliott Elementary, Irving Middle School and Lincoln High School.

Laurie K. Scott (formerly Laurie Gottsche)
Laurie K. Scott completed her B.A. and M.A. degrees in political science at UN-L. After she finished her M.A., she traveled to Japan to work in Tokyo for two years as an International Business Trainer for Japanese executives being transferred on overseas assignments. Ultimately, she pursued a career in fundraising for various causes in the not-for-profit sector.

Clyde Johnson received his education from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln Nebraska with a B.S. in Business Administration in 1958. He retired in April 1998 from Assurity Life Insurance Co.

Dorothy Metcalf is a graduate of the Lincoln Public School’s Jackson High School. She termed her career working for all five judges in the district court for 20 years "a great learning experience on the subject of law."

Mary C. Commers graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a B.A. degree in English and from the University of Nebraska with a M.A. in English. Her life has centered around education ever since.

Richard S. Hay, DDS
Richard Hay is a graduate of the Lincoln Public Schools. He retired in 1967 as a Commander in the U.S. Navy Dental Corps. A former Trustee of the Nebraska Art Association, Dr. Hay has received special recognition for volunteer and philanthropic work for the arts.

Frances E. Buell
Frances E. Buell retired in 1987 after teaching Mathematics at Lincoln High School for 33 years. An only child, she grew up on a farm near Murdock, Nebraska. The family farm is the original homestead where her grandfather settled in 1871 after moving from New York. She says her farm background taught her “to first get the work done,” a lesson that carried over into the activities of her life.
