Charitable Remainder Trust Benefits Rensselaer and Claire and Roland Schmitt

As president emeritus of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Roland Schmitt knows exactly how important endowment gifts are to the financial strength of the Institute. That is why he and his wife, Claire, decided to endow a professorship at Rensselaer through a charitable remainder annuity trust. This versatile financial planning tool provides a fixed annual income to Claire and Roland while allowing them to fulfill a major charitable goal. The significant charitable income tax deduction they received was an added benefit.

"This charitable remainder trust allows us to support the continuing renaissance at Rensselaer in a way that is beneficial to everyone," Roland Schmitt notes.
