As an attorney, Johni understands the tax benefits of leaving retirement funds to charity. While Johni and Dave have not lived in the Des Moines area their entire lives, they have "lived here the longest" and want to continue to create a better community. Gifts from their retirement funds will benefit local charities, including the Community Foundation, after their deaths.

"We firmly believe in people helping people. Why not give it away? We know the integrity of the Community Foundation and couldn't think of a better steward of our gifts," Johni and Dave said.

Johni and Dave encourage others to support organizations they care about both now and through planned gifts.
