Born in Bucharest, Romania, Stefan Dragitsch immigrated to Germany with his parents when he was 11. Now married and father of a 14-year-old daughter, Stefan aspires to become an American diplomat. After moving to the U.S. and settling in Miami in 1987, he later opened up his own trading business along with a subsidiary in Bucharest. In 1996 he enrolled at Broward Community College and transferred to FIU two years later with an Honors College merit-based scholarship.
Stefan then left FIU to accept a job with the Roney Palace Resort & Spa Hotel as director of European Sales but returned to the University in 2008 to complete his Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations. Like many FIU students, he attended school full-time while also working full-time. Stefan held a position in a healthcare information technology firm. This past spring, he graduated from the Honors College.
Living in three different countries has enriched Stefan's perspective of the world around him, both as a student and professional. In his words, "From very early on, growing up in Bucharest, Romania as a second generation German, to being a Romanian immigrant in Germany, and now a German immigrant here in the U.S., internationalism and multiculturalism have been an integral and constant part of my life. My choice to complete my undergraduate studies here at FIU should come then as no surprise as it merely serves as a continuation of my, not so unique by Florida standards, international upbringing and education which, in my mind, puts me Worlds Ahead of my competition in the job market as well as the broader business world."
