The Burke A. Hinsdale Society

The Burke A. Hinsdale Society honors our alumni and friends who support Hiram College through bequests and planned gifts.

Burke A. Hinsdale played many roles in the history of Hiram College. He was a student, a teacher, President of the College from 1870 to 1882 and a Trustee from 1883 until his death in 1900. Hinsdale believed that students learn best from free, intellectual exchange with their teachers. This philosophy continues to be a hallmark of a Hiram College education. Hinsdale also appreciated the importance of financial stability to attracting the best students and finest faculty available to the Hiram campus. The first planned gift to Hiram College, a gift annuity, was secured while Hinsdale was President, over 130 years ago.

Hinsdale Society members believe in the value of a Hiram College education and they are committed to the future of Hiram College. They show their commitment by providing for Hiram College in their estate plans. Their gifts will be appreciated by Hiram students and faculty far into the future.

Hinsdale Society members provide for Hiram College in any of the following ways:

  • Bequests in Wills
  • Gifts from a Trust
  • Life Insurance Policies
  • Retirement Plans, IRAs, SEP, 401(k)s, 403(b)s
  • Charitable Gift Annuities
  • Charitable Remainder Trusts
  • Pooled Income Funds

Hinsdale Society members receive:

  • Recognition in the annual Honor Roll of Donors (with your permission)
