Planned gifts are crucial to sustain and grow United Way of Broward County's programs and support its mission ongoing. While United Way of Broward County staff and volunteers can make suggestions regarding your giving, please meet with your financial and legal advisors to ensure plans are in your best interest.

What's Your Legacy?
As a member of United Way of Broward County's Legacy Circle you help ensure low-income children have access to quality early child care, students graduate from high school, and low-wage individuals and families are financially stable and self-sufficient.

Your planned gift provides an opportunity to:
  • Share what is important to you and teach the value of philanthropy
  • Sustain and support key initiatives important to you and your family in a timeless way
  • Serve as an example for others that this form of philanthropy can make a difference
  • Continue to meet the needs of the community
  • Ensure significant tax benefits through wise gift planning, providing financial stability for your family

How to Incorporate United Way of Broward County into your Estate Plans
There are many different ways to make a legacy gift. Some of the more common gift plans are a bequest, a charitable remainder trust, and a gift of a life insurance policy or a retirement plan.

Giving vehicles:
  • Include United Way of Broward County in your will by adding a simple codicil or amendment
  • Designate gifts of cash, stock, property or valuables
  • Name United Way of Broward County as the beneficiary of a retirement account, life insurance policy, investment, trust, or annuity.

Please consider sustaining your annual gift:
If you are a current Leadership or Tocqueville Society donor, please consider sustaining your annual giving. You can continue to impact your community ongoing by making a gift to United Way of Broward County's endowment equal to 25 times your annual giving. For example:

If your current annual gift is:
  • $2,500: Your gift is endowed with a $62,500 bequest.
  • $5,000: Your gift is endowed with a $125,000 bequest.
  • $10,000: Your Tocqueville Society gift is endowed with a $250,000 bequest.

Tocqueville Legacy Circle donors receive special recognition.
