Leaving Your Legacy Through Your Will

The following is suggested language that you and your attorneys can use in your will. You may want to benefit one or more collegiate units, departments or programs at the University of Minnesota Duluth, or you may want your gift to be unrestricted—to be used wherever the need is the greatest. Your will should state your intention clearly enough so that the University of Minnesota Foundation can ensure that your objectives are fulfilled.

Unrestricted Gift:
"I give, devise and bequeath [percentage of residue, sum, or description of property], to the University of Minnesota Foundation, Minneapolis, Minnesota, for the benefit of the University of Minnesota Duluth."

Restricted Gift:
"I give, devise and bequeath to the University of Minnesota Foundation, Minneapolis, Minnesota, [percentage of residue, sum, or description of property] for the benefit of the University of Minnesota Duluth [name of college, program, or scholarship]."

Your future gifts to the University of Minnesota Duluth qualify you for membership in the Heritage Society. This recognition society recognizes and thanks all donors of future gifts to UMD.
