Sample Bequest Language
Bequests for the benefit of Northwest Missouri State University should be made to the Northwest Foundation, Inc. The Northwest Foundation was established in 1971 as a 501(c)3 corporation to accept and manage private gifts for the benefit of the University and its students. The sample language that follows is intended for those preparing wills or trusts.
Unrestricted Bequest
I give and bequeath unto the Northwest Foundation, Inc. of Maryville, Missouri, the sum of $___________ (or "the following described property…" or "____ % of my estate" or "the residue of my estate") to be used for the general benefit of Northwest Missouri State University as determined by the Board of Directors of the Northwest Foundation, Inc.
Scholarship Fund
I give and bequeath unto the Northwest Foundation, Inc. of Maryville, Missouri, the sum of $___________ (or "the following described property…" or "____ % of my estate" or "the residue of my estate") to be used to establish the ____________________ Scholarship Fund for the benefit of deserving students attending Northwest Missouri State University. The amount of such scholarship awards and the recipients thereof shall be determined by an appropriate committee appointed by the President of the University. (or "to be added to the existing ___________________________ Scholarship Fund") for the benefit of deserving students attending Northwest Missouri State University as detailed in the separate scholarship gift agreement on file with the Northwest Foundation, Inc.")
