Commitment to Private Education
After his service in the Navy during WWII, Tom McManamon returned to the states to complete his education. Tom graduated from Drake University in 1951 with a degree in English.
During his career, Tom worked for several companies, focusing on the instruments involved in petroleum refining. His employment allowed him to travel nationally and internationally. It was in Canada that he met his wife of 34 years, Diane.
Although Tom and Diane have always resided in Southern California, they continue to remain active with Drake University. They recently attended a Drake presidential dinner in Santa Monica.
Tom passionately describes his commitment to private education, specifically mentioning small classroom sizes and student access to professors. Diane is pleased with Tom's desire to support private education, specifically Drake University.
Tom has documented his commitment through a bequest in his estate plan. Drake University is proud to be a recipient of Tom's philanthropic commitment to private education.
