From the Director's Desk

On behalf of the 350 residents of Burcham Hills Retirement Community, I wish to express a heartfelt thank you for the tremendous support we received in 2011.

The year 2012 is upon us, and it is proving to be a very exciting and eventful year. To begin, a very special thank you to one of our own Clusters member, Stephanie Barch, for recently creating a $15,000 charitable gift annuity. Gift annuities support our general endowment fund and are vital to Burcham Hills. If you are interested in learning more about making an impact by establishing your own charitable gift annuity, please contact me today at (517) 827-1041 or visit us at burchamhills.com and click on "Burcham Hills Foundation."

Additionally, we have had a significant increase in memorial gift contributions. What a wonderful tribute a gift memorial represents in recognition of an individual's life. A gift memorial speaks volumes about the impact one's character has had on others and the legacy left for all of us.

The Burcham Hills Foundation is also in the process of expanding sponsorship opportunities for our Common Ground 2012 fundraising events. If your organization is interested in a corporate sponsorship opportunity, or you would like more information on our upcoming events, please get in touch with me at your convenience.

Lastly, the Burcham Hills Foundation is pressing forward in 2012 with obtaining additional support through federal and private grant opportunities, including a recent Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services grant application for $1 million to support the expansion of our existing Alzheimer's and dementia caregiver training to employees and caregivers in the tri-county area. Next, we will be responding to an invitation from the Kresge Foundation to submit a grant application for support of innovative art therapies that further improve the quality of life for Burcham Hills residents. We will also be submitting a request to the Jackson National Life Foundation to provide program startup support for these art initiatives. Clearly, it is going to be an exciting year! We would like to put together a special committee that will work directly with our art program initiatives. Please contact the Foundation if you are interested in being part of this new endeavor.
