Sarah
Sarah Rockhold Turns 100!

Sarah Peckworth Rockhold was born on July 25, 1909, in Jersey City, New Jersey. At the age of five, she and her family moved to Ridgewood, where she has called home ever since.

Her special day in honor of her centennial was commemorated with a proclamation from the Village of Ridgewood naming July 25 Sarah Rockhold Day and her longtime friends hosted her for an intimate luncheon at Valley's Kurth Café. As astute as ever, Mrs. Rockhold took this occasion to become a Lifetime Benefactor of Valley by completing a second Charitable Gift Annuity.

A 1926 graduate of Ridgewood High School, Mrs. Rockhold was the recipient of the Woman's Club Award for Service and Good Citizenship. She then went on to graduate from Russell Sage College in Troy, New York in 1930, and on May 16, 1992, the College awarded Mrs. Rockhold with the Doris L. Crockett Medal for Distinguished Service.

Mrs. Rockhold's support of The Valley Hospital spans more than 50 years. She served as a Trustee of The Valley Hospital from 1957 to 1978 and as Secretary of the Board from 1971 to 1978. Upon completing her term, she was named an Honorary Trustee in recognition of her years of service and dedication to the Hospital's Nursing Scholarship and Chaplaincy Programs.

In addition to long standing commitment to Valley, Mrs. Rockhold continues her memberships with the Emmanuel Baptist Church, College Club of Ridgewood, and the Woman's Club of Ridgewood.

She has traveled to 26 foreign countries, the most exciting being a trip to China in the late 1970s.
